The Vatican aid for migrants living in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region is continuing and starting from December thousands of internally relocated persons will be able to receive it” – stated today the Auxiliary Bishop pf the Lviv Archdiocese and the Head of the “Pope for Ukraine” Technical Secretariat , His Excellency Eduard Kava during the press conference in Kharkiv.
This Action shows us how deeply Catholic Church cares about events in Ukraine. The Holy Father is personally interested in lives of those people, harmed by war, as well as how specifically w can help them. It represents his heart and fatherly love”, – underlined bishop Eduard Kava.
The Action will proceed in Kharkiv region through the organizations we used to cooperate with during the previos period, this refers to the “Kharkiv Station” and Caritas-Spes religious mission of the Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhya diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.
The new wawe of projects within the framework of the “Pope for Ukraine” Initiative will provide people harmed by war with food, warm winter clothes, shoes, personal hygiene sets, medicines. People with special needs will be provided with medical purpose items. This aid will be handed over by “Caritas-Spes-Kharkiv”. Besides, families of the migrants will be aided in housing rent payments, fire woods or coal, food vouchers. There will also be address aid with medicines for people in harsh living conditions. This project will be carried out by the “Kharkiv Station”.
These organizations have already worked within the framework of the first wawe of the Action for the amount of 500 thousand euros. The next wawe will start in December this year and financing will be increased.
The main our goal – as the bishop Eduard Kava underlined – is to give people back their dignity and hope that the war will end”.
Speaking about the projectsthat will be carried out by partner-organizations, the bishop noticed, that the Action was aimed at each person specifically to give the feeling of being heard, understood and accepted. “Our approach is flexible and we direct our partners at individual review of each particular situation. I thank organizations that we had a positive experience of cooperation with, because through them we want to reach a human in need”, – added bishop Eduard Kava, the Head of the Technical Secretariat.
